Sawasdee Khrap - Welcome to IsaanPhoto

IsaanPhoto is about photography and Thailand.

I am fascinated with the Khmer influence in the north-east and the Prasats (old Khmer Temples from the Angkor era [8th-12th century CE]). I am also very fond of Temple-Caves and have made a separate Temple-Cave page [under Places].

This web-site has three parts:

* Portfolio (w/Galleries [direct link]),
* Places (Thailand, Temple-Caves, Isaan, Ban Phok &
   Trips & Travel, incl. abroad [Angkor Wat & Myanmar,
   etc.], with PDF travel itineraries, and
* People (About Us [Siamalgamate Co., Ltd., IsaanPhoto &
   SAN Apartments/Sompit's Guesthouse], ContactPlaces'].

The images/pictures also cover a range of other topics. You will find selected images at the IsaanPhoto Foliopic web site and on my FaceBook and the Picasa & Google+ pages.

Update (Feb. 22, 2012)

Updated the Temple-Cave page and pictures with images from Prachuap Khiri Khan and Phetchaburi (see Places).

From the Temple-Caves collection I have put in some 360 degree Fisheye 'movies' where you can move around with the cursor. Click on the titles below - they are Flash/Quicktime (so you need to have those installed) and of MB size so depending on connection may take a little time to download.

ISAAN - in the center of (mainland) South East Asia (SEA)

Isaan is the (north)eastern part of Thailand and stretches roughly from Nackhon Ratchasima (Khorat) in the west covering the whole eastern part of Thailand (see Map).

Historically,positioned at the center of mainland SEA, Isaan has been a meeting place of cultures and kingdoms and empires. Mid-1800's Siam extended its reach including today Cambodia and the lower parts of Laos and Isaan was coined as a term for the region. More recently Isaan is playing a role as a power base for the 'Peoples Party' (Red Shirts: aka "Thaksinites" opposing what they consider the BKK power elite).
